I live and write from my home outside of Aspen, CO where I live with my wife (a talented furniture designer and creator), horses, and a goldendoodle named Hank.  I’m an avid skier, traveler, cook, hunter, fly-fisherman, drummer, father, and divemaster. After law school, I moved to Aspen and founded WATERLAW-Patrick Miller Noto, which specializes in water law. I’ve spoken on water issues on three continents and been lead counsel on over forty appellate cases before State Supreme Courts, US Circuit Courts, and the US Supreme Court on water issues. Besides writing, I am a Fellow of the American Bar Association, a member of the Board of Visitors of the Sustainable Energy Resources Law Institute, and a former member of the Board of Advisors for Bloomberg Water Law & Policy Monitor.

In my early years, I grew up as the son of a U.S. intelligence Officer stationed overseas through many of my formative years. That no doubt shaped some of my love for the thriller genre. My thrillers weave real-life issues of water (the most critical of natural resources), climate change, finance, and foreign policy. That which is unexpected but will be in the news tomorrow should thrill us all.
